Questions

Straight answers

Does joining the waiting list cost anything?

No. There’s no payment and no card details, and we don’t ask for documents. Just your name, number and whether you drive for Uber or private hire.

When does the £20 a month start?

Only when you actually start using the service. Your first 3 months are £20 a month, then it’s £40 a month. We’ll confirm everything with you before you pay a penny.

What can a taxi or private hire driver claim?

Usually things like fuel, insurance, servicing and repairs, licence fees, your phone, operator or platform fees and part of the cost of your car. There are two ways to claim car costs, and we’ll work out which one is right for you.

I’m behind on previous years. Can you help?

Tell us when we call. Lots of drivers are in the same boat, and it’s always better to sort it than ignore it. We’ll talk you through your options in plain English.

What is Making Tax Digital and does it affect me?

Since April 2026, self-employed people with income over £50,000 have had to keep digital records and send HMRC quarterly updates. The threshold drops to £30,000 from April 2027. We’ll tell you if it applies to you and keep you on the right side of it. You can try a free tax estimate first.

Is my information safe?

Yes. Right now we only collect your name, phone number and driver type. When you start, we’ll explain how to send documents securely. We will never ask for your Government Gateway password. Read our privacy policy.
